All of our fire rated doorsets deliver exceptional safety and peace of mind. Designed to save lives and prevent the rapid spread of fire, these doors undergo rigorous testing to ensure top-tier performance and meet all required standards.
Fire rated doorsets can achieve various levels of fire protection based on time. We offer durable steel fire doors for either internal or external use, depending on requirements.
Where timber fire doors typically offer E30 or E60 ratings—providing 30 or 60 minutes of fire protection—our steel fire doors raise the bar. The Defender Fireshield, designed for internal use, is fire-rated up to E120, with options for 30, 60, 90, or 120 minutes. For external applications, the Defender FireshieldX offers robust protection with fire ratings of 30, 60, or 120 minutes. That’s the Metador standard.
Fire safety is a legal requirement for all commercial properties, including those in industrial environments, local authority buildings, leisure, hospitality, healthcare, education, and retail settings.
On commercial buildings with stairwells used for fire escape purposes, each floor in the building must be separated from the vertical evacuation route to ensure the safety of employees or the public as they descend from their original floor to the exit below. This also safeguards emergency service workers who may need to visit specific floors to either fight the fire or locate evacuees.
When assessing both horizontal and vertical evacuation, the primary concern is usually based on the safety and speed by which occupants can flee the danger of the inferno. Horizontal routes must also be lined with appropriate fire doors.
The primary concern regarding domestic properties is ensuring that garages are separated from the rest of the building by fire doors. However, in cases where the building serves a dual purpose, such as a living area connected to a business, it is essential to install a fire door suitable for the level of fire risk involved.
