Bow Green: Landmark Residential Development

The Bow Green project required robust back-of-house steel doorsets that could support the development’s fire, security, durability and access requirements without compromising on consistency of finish across multiple door types and locations.

Project Overview

Bow Green is a major residential-led development on Bow Common Lane in London E3, delivered by Berkeley Group’s St William brand. Set within a prominent East London regeneration area, the scheme brings together new homes, landscaped public space, and resident amenities in a well-connected Zone 2 location between the City, Canary Wharf, and Stratford.

The Challenge

Large residential developments place heavy demands on internal and back-of-house access points. Doorsets must perform reliably in everyday use while also meeting stringent life-safety requirements, supporting secure access, and integrating with the building’s architectural and operational needs.

At Bow Green, the brief called for a coordinated package of single, double and leaf-and-a-half doorsets across a range of structural openings, each tailored to location-specific performance and access needs. Requirements included tested fire performance, DDA-compliant thresholds, robust locking configurations, stainless steel hardware, fire signage, kickplates, closers and, in selected locations, louvres, motorised locking, concealed door loops, tower bolts, multi-point locking and PAS 24 security upgrades.

Fireshield Internal Fire-Rated Doorsets

The Solution

Metador supplied a tailored package of Fireshield and Safeguard steel doorsets, specified to suit the project’s different performance zones and access-control requirements. The doorsets featured heavy-duty galvanised steel leaves with Rockwool cores, steel single-rebate frames, weatherseals, and stainless-steel hardware, delivering a durable, low-maintenance solution for demanding back-of-house environments.
